The Left Behind Kids Camp is a project that aims to meet the felt and real needs of the young people of China who are left behind at home by their parents. The parents, millions of them, leave for years on end, if not permanently, to find jobs in the major cities. Their children are often left at home, with a relative or handed over to a state run boarding school indefinitely. The young people grow up with serious emotional and life issues due to this social situation. Even worse than being an orphan, whose parents have often died, Left Behind Kids are abandoned. The students are emotionally traumatized as well as doom ed to a cycle of poverty. The education that is available to them is limited to about 9th grade or age 16. There is no real future or development track for them beyond this age. Our camps and ongoing development programs seek to not only develop the inner person but to give these students the initial life skills and attitudes necessary to overcome their circumstances and succeed in life.
